Déjenme les cuento un poco de lo que pasa en la vida por aquí en estos días, cómo una amiga y yo terminamos comisionándole nuestros retratos a unas niñas de 10 años, proyectos de arte y diseño que me he encontrado y otras curiosidades de viajes y cultura.
Let me tell you a bit about what's happening with life lately over here, how a friend and I ended up commissioning our portraits to a group of girls, things and projects about art and design I've found and cool random findings about travel and culture.

También es verano aquí, lo que significa que todos están buscando una excusa para quitarse la ropa hacer actividades al aire libre: ir a las terrazas de los restaurantes, hacer kayak en el lago, ir de campamento fuera de la ciudad, festivales de música, de comida, de todo tipo. Es gracioso cómo este par de meses están llenos de cosas porque, bueno... el resto del año te mueres de frío, jaja
Also, it’s summer in Canada! which means everyone is looking for an excuse totake off their clothes do stuff outdoors...grab a bite at a patio with some friends, do some kayak by the lake, camp anywhere out of the city, go to music festivals, food festivals, all sort of festivals… it’s funny how these couple of months are packed with a whole bunch of things because… well, it’s too darn cold the rest of the year! Hehe

En cosas completamente random: el otro día estaba cerca de un farmers' market y un grupo de niñas tenía un stand en donde ¡vendían retratos! Cada uno costaba $2 dólares y la tercer niña (también la más peque) estaba más interesada en dibujar animales (porque, ya saben, son lindos) y estaba apenas entrándole al negocio. ¡Adorable!
In other (random) things: the other day I was passing by a Farmers' Market and saw the most adorable group of girls who had the cutest stand: they were drawing portraits!... each of those was $2 dollars and there was a third girl (the youngest one) who was drawing mostly pets (cause, you know, they're cute) for only $1 dollar, cause she was just getting started in the biz. Adorable!
Después regresé con una amiga y por supuesto les pedimos nuestro retrato y como somos totalmente promotoras de las artes ;) les comisionamos un retrato a cada una de ellas y al final les pagamos lo mismo a todas, porque hay que ser justos, oh sí. Lo mejor de todo fue cuando descubrimos que una de ellas estaba celebrando su cumpleaños número 10, así que estaban preparándose para ir por hamburguesas y tener una pequeña celebración, lo cual explica por qué al final estaba un poquito impaciente por terminar mi retrato y correr por la comida. jaja, pero está bien.
I went with a friend and of course we got our portrait done, and since we're all about promoting the arts ;) we commissioned a drawing to each one of the girls and paid the same to all of them, cause, you know, we have to be fair!... The best thing is we found out it was the birthday of one of the girls, so they were getting ready to have burgers and a small celebration, which might explain why she was a bit impatient to finish my portrait and go all over the burgers! haha, but that's ok!

Adobe tiene esta competencia en la que estudiantes de diseño de diferentes partes del mundo envían su trabajo. Este chico de Copenhague creó este logo basándose en su personalidad, intereses (que incluyen geometría, recesos, ¿¡huesos!? y ¡gatos!) y creó esta divertida pieza de branding. Adobe has this competition where design students from around the world submit their work. This guy from Copenhagen created his personal logo based out on his personality, interests (which include geometry, breaks, bones?! and cats!) and created this fun piece of branding! You can see more about the creative process here.
Art of The Title – Kyle Cooper
Quizás ya no trabajo de tiempo completo en cine pero sigo amando todo ese mundo. Art of The Title es un sitio en el que puedes encontrar una lista de videos con las secuencias de títulos (créditos de inicio) de varias películas y series de televisión que son interesantes, reconocidas, experimentales, divertidas y demás. Encontré esto cuando estaba investigando un poco sobre el estilo de Kyle Cooper. Y sí, ese es un still de la secuencia de los créditos de American Horror Story.
I may no longer work full time in film (sniff) but I still love all things cinema! Art of The Title is a place where you can find a list of acclaimed, experimental, fun, remarkable Opening Titles from film and TV shows and the names of the artists behind their creation. I found this while I was doing some research on the style of Kyle Cooper. And yes, that is a screenshot from the sequence from American Horror Story.

Why in Japan you can be asleep in the middle of the day, even at work, and nobody would complain (and actually they may even think highly of you)?

Toronto - Shakespeare in High Park
La semana pasada fui con un grupo de amigos a ver una obra de teatro en High Park (que por alguna extraña razón siempre le decía Hyde Park, ¿supongo que es señal de que debo ir a Londres? jaja). Llovió un poco pero nada demasiado importante, eso sí: ¡qué cosa tan complicada es preparar sandwiches y agarrar un paraguas al mismo tiempo!... la obra estuvo bastante entretenida y al fin puedo quitar esto de mi lista de pendientes de cosas que moría por hacer aquí en verano.
Last week I went with a bunch of friends to watch a play in High Park (I kept calling the place Hyde Park, so I'll take it as a clear sign that I need to visit London! haha). It rained a bit but it didn’t matter cause we had a picnic and it was just fun... one thing I must say though: never try preparing a sandwich while holding an umbrella!... the play was just great and finally I can cross this from my wishlist of things to do in Toronto this summer. Check!
