A reading and tasting group, with Gabriel Levine and guests. Fermenting can be many things: a technique of radical queer and feminist healing, a mode of reclaiming “traditional” foodways, an easily-mocked sign of gentrification, a retreat from the violence of the industrial food system, a way of creating value-added products for niche markets, a path toward multi-species collaboration, a metaphor for collective political uprising, and a sign of settler or nationalist belonging. Often, it is many of these things at once.
